This 3 hour course prepares the Parent Aide to recognize the signs people tend to display when they are under the influence of drugs and alcohol. When you recognize that the person you are about to pass minor children over to is impaired and then you withhold that minor child, you have protected that child. The responsibility of the Parent Aide is to see to the welfare of the minor child under his /her supervision. The courts and the State depend upon the Parent Aide to ensure that safety of the minor children and the professional liability associated with failing this cannot be understated. Recognizing the signs of drug and alcohol abuse and then acting upon this insight is critical to establishing the credibility and professionalism of the Parent Aide. Demonstrating excellence in this arena is demonstrating excellence in the position.
