This 2 hour course provides the Parent Aide with insight into, as the title suggests, what is normal physical and psycho/social development for children from the baby stage through adolescence. Parents who are new to parenting and especially those parents who require the assistance of the Parent Aide are under-educated in child development. They are seriously in need of assistance and direction when it comes to parenting. When the Parent Aide is educated in the steps and stages of normal child development they are then capable of providing the needed guidance. Having the insight to explain this and that behavior is extremely valuable and confidence building. Having the ability to understand current behavior and knowing what generally will follow, demonstrates professionalism and expertise. This course provides that insight.
